paonta sahib
We stopped here cause it was on the holy yamuna river, and it was a good traveling distance for what we could tolerate of the local bus dance disaster shimmy shake honka honka tree tunnel extravaganza that weve become so accustomed to by now. The town was tourist free and filled with Sikhs because of the famous mosque in town…it was a unique visit…Sikhs are pretty burly and tuff looking compared to the hindus…not to generalize to the point of killing myself…but the Sikhs have big beards and worship weapons and stand around chopping massive trees into pieces, cooking with pots large enough to boil a half dozen people…but really…it was very pretty and mirrored and surreal inside with live musicians and people praying and stuff like that.
After unwrapping our heads, we headed over to the local carnival consisting of a man powered Ferris wheel that we rode for the equivalent of a quarter, or ten rupees, and shot the beebee guns with the kids and drank mango juice. Then we headed down the dam on the river and hacked it up. At dinner we meet some lovely local friends who invited us over to there apartment and we hung out and drank tea and looked at their photos and made jokes and whatnots. Puja, their neighbor came over and confessed she wanted to marry me and go to America…so yeah, actually the day after I wished for a girlfriend I got one…that’s fucking amazing! That crazy temple did work…but then we left the next morning…next time ill have to be more specific I guess. code
