We parted with our dear meriam…and did a bit more roof riding through the western terrain of Nepal. It was one of the best bus journeys of my life…beautiful mnts…very few people…plenty of trees and indigenous people and the most gorgeous mud houses if ever seen. It was a high standard of living in my mind…peaceful… farmy…and full of enchantments…tree forts…and 100% organic. We passed through countless checkpoints along the way and through a few refugee camps filled with nepali’s booted back from Bhutan…the terrai is considered dangerous…but we had no problems and didn’t see a single other tourist which added to our feelings of remoteness and adventure.
Our financial planning was at a loss and we found ourselves traveling from sunrise to sunset with less then a dollar to our names. It was a rough day…all we ate was bananas and water and for dinner could only afford small plates of rice and dhal and more water…our room was filled with misquitos and was filthy disgusting…but it made for some interesting photos and the next day we wandered around town, finally found some cash, hoped the border, and jumped on a bus to haridwar…we didn’t arrive until after midnight…exhausted after another day of full bus rides with minimal eating; missing Nepal and all its charms…my new and old…my back to India…and its night long noisy streets…leaky faucets and sleepness nights. code
